Mill Tooling Rack

Hi,

I made this crude mill tooling rack. It hangs from my first attempt at a French cleat.

I like the removable aspect, especially if you have several work stations where you could have use of the same set of tools (maybe the lathe, the drill press, another lathe), it's great to be abale to move your rack as you pass from one place to another.

A simple digression about french cleat.
Actually, as a French, I don't know why the English name says "French" cleat, as I have never seen this principle in use here in France.
Always funny how things gain their name ... Does anyone know why this one is so called ?

The English etymology of "French Cleat" appears to be a mystery. I've always thought it referred to the French reputation for romance, as the two halves of the cleat nestle so perfectly together.

Either way, I just bought tickets to take my family to France for mid-July. Between bottles of wine and copious amounts of baguettes and cheese, I'll see what I can find out about the etymology of the cleat known as French.
