    Miniature Optical Centre Punch

I realised that the commercial optical centre I have is too large, the base was just too wide and so limits how close you can get to a feature that protrudes from a surface.

So, I decided to make a small optical centre punch.

It has turned out so well that today I sat down and drew up some plans - optical centre punch.

So there are no plans or procedures to make this without paying? Didn't realize forum has become a "marketplace.

The cost of the plans was set as roughly equivalent to a coffee or a beer - a token that I think most would offer in return for plans. If it offends I can just remove it.

I will see if I can get an image of this working, not easy, but I did get an image of the larger Soba Optical Centre:

Here are the parts and the beam that was marked up and then centre punched:

The steps to using it are:

    1. Place the base on the workpiece
    2. Put the optical centre into the base
    3. Align the cross-hairs / circle / dot (different options are described in the plans) on the marks on the workpiece
    4. Whilst holding the base in place
    5. Remove the optical centre
    6. Insert the hardened centre
    7. Tap the top of the hardened centre once with a small hammer
    8. Done

Re: "Didn't realize forum has become a "marketplace"

I have been a member of this forum for a number of years and have bought plans for a number of projects. I thought that was the purpose of the forum.
