It's easy enough to make a dog that will work - a 4"x 2"x 1/2" aluminum bar is all you need. Drill a hole near one end for the mandrel with a through hole 90º into it from the end, threaded, and a hole at the other end to fit the drive pin which goes in your face plate slot. In fact I don't even own any factory made dogs.

The shaft knurling tools that I've seen are just like regular knurling wheels except the teeth are straight across the wheel and make straight lines running down the shaft, but I can testify that regular diamond knurling wheels work (depending on the hardness of the shaft).
