    Heatnbeat's Tools

    New guy from central Calif.

Hi thought I would introduce myself. My name is Rick, but my sign in is HEATNBEAT. I work at my wife's sewing machine store 2 days a week. The rest of the week I shape metal and build machines to help me in the shaping. I have built English wheel, with the upper and lower wheels, even made the radius cutter to cut the lower anvils. A powered beadroller 24" deep with upper shaft that adjusts in/out 1-1/4". A 40" powered bead roller. Electric planishing hammer with several dies. A thumbnail shrinker. 15lb power hammer. Shrinker and stretcher with stand and foot pedal. I also have some machines that I bought

    Hi Rick,

    Welcome!

Sounds as though you've built some great metalworking tools. If you've got photos of your projects to share, we'd love to see them! Post at will... :-)

Here is my English wheel. It has a 31" deepth made from 5x5x3/8 tubing. As you can see I even put on a digital readout on it to get to the same deepth each time. I made the lower anvils from some 3" dia. 416 stainless steel. It was harder to machine but polishes up nice.( I used the SS because it was only $0.35 a lb at the scrap yard). I went with the upper adjuster and the angled lower for more clearance. The upper wheel is just on old steel steering wheel

Is this the place to post picture?

Thanks for the post! Great-looking English wheel. Ordinarily, we'd add this to the database immediately. Today, however, we're planning to conduct an update of the entire site.

So, please stand by for a bit longer. Rest assured, however, that we're glad to have received your contribution and will process it just as soon as the new system is up and running.

Thanks Heatnbeat! Very interesting, I don't know if we have any other English wheels listed with a digital depth readout. This has been added to our English Wheels category, and to your homemade tools page: Heatnbeat's Homemade Tools. Your receipt:
