Thanks! I understand what you mean. Maybe you've already seen a bit of this alligator-vise, part 1, in the last picture.
This type of vise works best when installed in a pillar head but works well on the corner of the table.

I see a lot of really interesting and cool tools around here. Some of them are specialized and some are good gp designs. This is one of the best I've seen. I can see this being useful in just about any shop.
