    Yeah, there's no way that a soft bolt could grip the pipe that well. It would slip more readily than it would tap into place.
    Maybe it would work (a little) if you put lock washers with external teeth between the bolt and pipe. They're hardened steel and would dig into both the bolt and the pipe.

    If you look really close at the very beginning of the vid the dutchman appears to wiggle when the guy's finger touches it. Could probably had stuck his thumb in it and rotated it out easy enough.

    I have removed broken pipe ends by using just a hammer and chisel. I put the end edge of the chisel between the pipe and nipple and swing away. Works every time. I also sometimes spray the pipe with PBS spray and or heat up the fitting with propane. These help too.
