    Optical centrepunch.

This is an optical centre punch I made some time ago. It's used for centre punching accurately, I added the LED light later. One is powered by a USB charger with resistor to cut down on voltage the other is powered by a button battery. Green light seems to work best.

Nice job, but shouldn't the crosshairs on the acrylic rod be facing down to (further) reduce/ avoid parallax?
They surely seem to be facing upwards in the pics - but I might be wrong.

You're free to make it the way you like, I'll continue to actually make things the way they work best for me. Fair?

Cross hairs on bottom seem to need a convex lens on top to magnify fine score marks. Some experimental shaping and polishing or you don't see a thing.
Most commercial optic centers have just a .003 dot.

With bombsight on top that is avoided, but there is little assurance line of sight is truly perpendicular.

I wear eyeglasses, rarely need them to do machine or bench work. But cannot discern dot superimposed over scribe marks without them, due odd optic function in what seems very short extra focal distance.

No one said otherwise. I compared the points of each design.
In such a forum, and the variety of postings are subject to innumerable viewpoints.

And yes I am sitting behind a desk, with just under 300,000 pounds of operative machine tools behind me. And 50+ years in the trade behind me as well...
So, 'spouting' and 'useless' may not be accurate appraisals.

You seem to be over sensitive to the comments of others, seemingly mistaking comments as criticism.
Past posts from both DIYswede and Toolmaker51 show more than adequately that neither just sit on their ass telling others how good they are. They both have made numerous posts here demonstrating beyond doubt their ability to make stuff.

Neither of their responses to your post justify your reaction to them. On the contrary it is they who have reason to be upset over your unjustified and ill informed criticism of them.
