Used them all the time in my former career as an analytic chemist/biochemist. That 10 µl one was my go-to for gas chromatography sample injection. Usual sample sizes were ~2-5 µl.

There's a warning tale from our NHS about modernisation that revolves around glass syringes.

Basically the salesmen for the 'new' plastic syringe companies sold the idea to the bean counters that it would save all the time and money it cost to collect up reusable glass syringes and to strip, clean and sterilise them ready for reuse along with the resharpenable, cleanable and resteilisable all stainless needles, on the basis each plastic single use syringe and needle was so cheap.

Then once most glass syringes and every major sterilisation plant was gone, small desktop autoclave units and a few glass syringes and matching needles remain for delivery of certain plastic eating injectables, the loss leading price skyrocketed. The bean counters tried to leverage a return to glass, but as the salesmen knew to replace the plant, syringes and the skills not just to run the plant but to make the syringes in bulk was gone. The moral of the tale is always look beyond the immediate claimed cost savings, recycling stuff may cost, but often less than all new every time.

Unintended consequences! Like bringing in the multi flora rose bush to WV to act as field barriers, now an invasive shrub.
The Asian beetle to control lady bugs, bad idea, Gypsy moths, Kudzu in NC,VA,SC another brilliant move.
There isn't much the Govt can't FU with enough time.
I know the syringe shortage is not because of the Govt. but the principle is the same.
