Thanks DIYSwede for the comments! Answering your questions:
- Material of the plate: by machining, probably SAE-1045 (I can't say for sure, I bought it in scrap. To have a notion, you would have to perform at least one chemical analysis). It certainly wasn't ASTM-A36.
- Allen screws: easily found in hardware stores. If you do not have this length, buy longer and cut to adapt.
- By my calculations, M6 is enough to keep the jaw fixed in place. If you want, you can replace it with M8.
- As the screw fixation occurs at 45 degrees, the movable jaw tends to descend, which completely locks the part.
- I will still manufacture tempered jaws, so there are some details to complete the project.
