Protecting Costco bulk coffee beans

My last 3 pound bag of Costco coffee beans came in a heavy plastic bag. I use about 1/2 pound at a time. With the last bag, I vacuum sealed the beans in 1/2 pound portions which worked well. It did burn a lot of bags and time.

This time around, I poured out one pound of beans, used 1/2 pound and put the other 1/2 pound in a sealed container. This left me a few inches of room in the bag.

Then I cut the bag square across the top and used my vacuum sealer on this bag. It worked beautifully, cost me nothing and was quick.
