I'd love to see some examples of "self-made machines". Sounds fascinating.

On reflection I think I misunderstood. By "self-made" you meant "homemade". I interpreted it as the tool made itself. My mistake.

It's not as dumb as it sounds. Folks often claim the lathe is the only tool that can replicate itself although I find that hard to believe. To my knowledge nobody has ever managed to do it.
