I'm thinking a little salt may have extended the life of that lower roof. And I don't mean to have put it on top.
That was a profoundly dumb thing to do. They have more problems than a few ice sickles if they're that big!

As I keep trying to explain to our younger team members, ice is hard and heavy, when our 4m tall N2 evaps are encased in ice they weigh an additional 4-6 Tons, and even a small chunk falling off will hurt you, if not kill you. It doesn't help the evaps are enclosed on 3 sides with full height walls for 'safety', nor that they are being run at full exposed to air-flow/warmth capacity in the cold of winter.
