    revisited lantern chuck

Hi this is my version of lantern chuck.
it's cheap, easy to make and versatile. It will hold a nail up to a 3/8 bolt.
you could to 3/4 head if you want. the main body are water coupler. one end was machine
so I could press fit a 3/8 nut coupler.I did put a socket head bolt at the end so I can use it in a lathe.
the delrin parthas a magnet in it. It's precise enough you can put it in a lathe to machine a screw, bolt

    Thanks for sharing.

I like the use of some already existing parts for this chuck.

What is the socket head screw in the end of the 3/8 rod for...I don't understand from the description.

Hi, the reason why I did use water coupler at the beginning was because of the Almost infinite use.
The socket head screw allows me to secure the bolt, nail, whatever... a tite as I can without having
any problem. Those water couplers give me 3/4 inch deep. So using it for a 4/48 screw I would turn the socket
screw in more then using a 3/8 bolts. Now the reason for a 6/32 socket head. It is smaller then the outer diameter
then a 3/8 rod , I can take the complete lantern and put it into a c5 chuck without having any interference issue

Ah yes. That socket screw from the back makes sense. Thanks for sharing your design!

    Hi,
This is strangely very similar as my build :
    http://www.homemadetools.net/forum/s...637#post111080

Coincidence is very possible, I do not deny, but if possibly you already saw this build before, it would be nice to credit the source.
Well done, in any case !
    Cheers !
    Christophe
