There are enough young guys walking beside the machine doing nothing That could have had half the field harvested before the machine could be put to work. Give the lazy bums a gunny sack and a hook billed knife.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

That is a harvester demonstration. The "lazy bums" are future buyers and the sales people.

I planted Broccoli in my garden one year because a friend of mine said he loved garden fresh non pesticide Broccoli. Big Mistake, because the scent of Broccoli must be a hog magnet. One night my 4 dogs went absolutely Bezek, Grabbed my 30 round Keltec 12 ga and a flashlight. A small feral hog had already destroyed half of the Broccoli plants. Hit him with the first round from about 50 feet Turned out that tube was loaded with 7.5shot so flipped to the other tube a gave him a 1 oz slug The dogs had a feast for a couple of days.

The ag college folks might be interested in it, but that really, really looks like a sales demonstration and the folks walking around with cell phones are the people with money...

Some hapless farmer will buy one then too late he will realize it will cost him more to maintain than any labor advantage he thinks he is saving. Similarly to a
Combine cotton head John Deere had a few years ago which has since been replaced. You can drive by a field and tell who is still using that head because it leaves half the cotton in the field. Many cotton farmers are losing ten cents per every pound harvested even on good yield years. Due to the much higher cost of fertilizers the tier 4 EPA restrictions on the equipment manufactures using software that only dealers can reset. leaving the equipment down waiting on dealer techs. for repairs during the critical harvesting times Higher fuel costs and too many other factors to list. It's not only cotton. The problem also extends across the entire farming industry. It's things like this robotic machine that adds to the problem at least the first second and possibly the third generation of them.

I think automation is a good thing - good because it saves money (have spoken to local farmers about this), saves time, reduces uncertainty, reduces labor costs, and improves quality. Have spoken to farmers with field crops and orchard crops.
