I actually tore roofs off for a two man roofing crew when I was 16. One of them carried all the shingles up (his name was Art something), one on each shoulder and climbed the ladder like stairs (no 3 points of contact for him!). They roofed at least 2 houses a week during the spring, summer, and fall. It took us almost as long to tear off, de-nail and clean up as it did for them to roof the house. I saw him slip once. He dropped one bundle and grabbed the side of the ladder, swore a few times then carried the bundle he saved to the peak and headed back down for 2 more. Luckily we weren't doing clean-up under the ladder when he lost it.
