    Christophe Mineau's Tools
    Hi Rick,
here it is, after a hard day at work, I needed to change my mind so I passed the evening in the shop and here it is :

Thinking about it, I simplified the scribe by leaving only a 1 mm hole, just enough to pass the tip of a pencil.
    Works great !
    Thanks for the idea !

I have some step by step pictures, I will put an article on my site one day or the other, I will make reference to your original idea , Rick, of course !

    Cheers,
    Christophe

    Christophe,

Brilliant improvement for use on wood! Nice job of machining too.

    Congratulation!

Your website reveals more of your genius :-)

Great execution, Christophe! Using brass makes that tool look really classy.

Nice idea but it seems like at best a approximation of the center line.

What if the scribe pin and edge guide pin are not exactly at 90° to the edge, which would be easy to happen?

Possible a flat edge instead of a round pin for the edge guide might help.

    Nice idea thanks for posting.

The flat would have to pivot as the distance between pins changed. Could be done. I use my tool a lot and usually scribe from both sides just to verify no surprises. The second scribe line has always fallen into the first line. Good enough for layout work.

Thanks for the reply Rick, yeah scribing from both sides would check your accuracy. Interesting project thanks for posting.

    Thanks Rick,
Iwas thinking small router-bit bearings might work.
