you cal also use the thinner pvc pipe to patch it's easyer to clip over the small the pipe the harder it gets, I usualy use the sale dia for the patch as the one being patched. I have a nack for finding sprinkler pipes quite fast...I think in 1 hour or less I had to patch 8 that I found....( I think it's a dowzing pitchfork,not me)although the spade works just as well at finding them.
