A Sheet Metal Drill Guide (How to Not Drill Your Hand)

I recently needed to drill through two layers of thin aluminum sheet metal that were wrapped around a post. This posed two problems: the drill bit walks across the curved surface and the sheet metal caves in from the force of the drill. These problems would be solved by pushing the drill hard against the surface while backing up the sheet metal with my hand. No, I ain't that stupid.

I built a tool to solve my problem safely.

I have added a feature to the back of this tool that stops the drill from cutting after it has gone through the sheet metal. The article has been updated.

The tool has evolved again. It now has a built in clamp to prevent it from sliding around before I hold it steady. The article has been updated.
