Yep I'm sure that was perfectly safe, your butt 2 inches off the ground a potential grenade in your lap if you flipped in a crash there was a good chance of breaking or losing both legs

That's a "live" axle - those aren't axle tubes, they are the rotating axles, I believe?

most had your legs above the axles.Ive never seen one that didnt. our dragster is a rear engine blown 496 ci. quite a fun ride.
