    Soft, flexible chuck

    This rubber bung in the 3 jaw chuck is holding a chisel handle, which is almost finished, except for fitting the ferrule. Usually I have to take it out 3 or 4 times to check the fit, removing a whisker each time, so this eases the process.

    The bung is off a crutch.

    You can see that I have just pushed the chuck guard to one side, since there’s little danger to my hand when working at the tail end of the lathe.
