Great idea to save money but not sufficient to take you off the grid.
Unless you invest in massive batteries and a generator to see you through the winter months, the grid remains your base load supplier.

I don’t need their tiles to wipe out my electric bill. I can take the cost of these tiles and prepay my electric bill. By the time this money is used up, these tiles will likely need replacing ;-))

The AI generated monolog is full of funny errors.

Agree. And 20 years is the antique technology life, it has not gotten better in the last 30 years of development.
I'm with you, same with hybrid vehicles, the cost of the electric motor and battery subsystem (~add$10K) can buy lots of liquid hydrocarbon fuel. And I can repair that subsystem all mechanical (some ECU junk), but working with batteries and high voltage DC stuff, I can do electronics, but I don't want to see the arc flash as my screw driver becomes the short circuit. And I feel safe in my circuit breaker panel of max 240VAC differential, and I'm very careful where the screwdriver goes.
If we need more power generation, maybe a population reduction to reduce power consumption might be a starting place.
