    solution to losing small screws

    Hi All
I was asked by a friend if I could have a look at his vapour cigarette. After looking at it, the screws were very small stainless steel T6 torxs. I knew that if I dropped one I wouldn’t have a replacement and guaranteed if I put them in a pot, I would knock it over. So the solution was sat on the bench in front of me in the form of parcel tape. So I tested my idea with some screws that I had plenty of to make sure it would work. The simple solution was to put a piece of parcel tape in the bottom of a plastic container and the screws would stick to the tape so even if the pot was knocked over it would retain the contents.
The photos below show the pot.

No screws lost and the vapour cigarette repaired.

Hope this is post is helpful.

Before I work with parts that tiny I lay a microfiber cloth...

on the work surface. They're "lossy" enough that any small object dropped on them loses all its energy into the cloth and remains exactly where it landed. The bright colors make it easy to locate tiny findings.

You'll "sproing" fewer tweezer-held objects if you use plastic-tipped tweezers. They can be bought...

or you can make your own by dipping ordinary tweezers into liquid electrical tape...

Small parts cups with no corners are easily made from the bottoms of soda cans. See...

    Small parts cups

A magnet glued to the bottom of the cup will trap ferrous findings, or...

Wipe the bottom of the cup with a Posit glue stick, e.g....

and tiny findings can't escape, even if they're not ferrous.

BTW, if your screen name refers to Pharoh Djoser's architect, later deified, you're misspelling it. It's Imhotep, not "Imohtep".
