    Doc's Tools
If I can just butt in here and interrupt:

One major drawback I have seen in various forums (fora?) over the years (including some for 'professional' people) is that not everybody has the same literary nor editing skills.

Consequently although somebody may have an 'okay' piccy of their tool/invention/way of doing things, they may lack either the language skills or the written skills required to make a 'best written article'. Potential to make people feel a little 'awkward' methinks.

Just my thoughts/suggestion, feel free to ignore as desired

It wasn't meant to come across as a criticism.

Anyhoo, sorry for the interuption Captain and crew here

    Regards

    Doc

Fair point, Doc, and one for us to keep in mind going forward. We'd never want anyone to feel awkward in the slightest.

I'm still in favor of this idea. One way to make the award more accessible is to allow not just best writing per se, but the best documented build - that could include detailed plans, 3D graphics, videos, etc. This opens up the award to people who aren't great writers, or don't speak English as a first language.

Realistically, in the above situation, I would think that we would still get a lot of winners based on writing merit, but there would also be legitimate contenders for the award based on other kinds of documentation.

    Agree with Jon above.
Another suggestion, besides the words :an award for the best photo/video, I mean aesthetically, showing a tool or workshop.
You know the kind of picture you keep as wallpaper or screen saver.
I am also on Pinterest and I have a board or really lovely pictures of tools ...
Producing nice photos should be encouraged I think.

    Cheers !

Great idea, Christophe! I completely agree on encouraging exceptional photography in every context.

Post a link to your Pinterest board - I'm sure people would like to see it.
