    I have a commercial trap I bought for my son and his friend mentioned in another post, but I like your design and will probably modify mine with some of your ideas. The basement has a collection of old Popular Mechanics, Pop Science, electronics and woodworking magazines that I plan to stack around the trap - not sure I'll be a very good shot to start with, nor sure of how accurate the old CO2 pistol is.

    If hand strength/steadiness is an issue, you might want to start off with a pistol shooting rest. This is the one I have...

    It's mostly plastic construction but more than steady enough for any pellet pistol. A bonus is that it can be used as a rifle rest if you eventually graduate to long guns.
