A slick is a broad chisel, used by shipwrights and timber framers, I understand.

These were made from discarded billhooks.

Two slicks-image.jpgTwo slicks-image.jpg. Good steel! I bent the socket one at a red heat so it lies flat. The handle is hickory from a broken sledge hammer handle. The chisels were cut to shape with an angle grinder.

They are a sort of thrust axe.
