Un-child proof bottle caps

Nice, simple solution. I've been taking the caps to my band saw and making a couple cuts just deep enough that I can remote the outer cap and keep the inner cap that screws onto the bottle.

Like you, I remove the outer cap and use the one that does the real sealing. I too had used a saw but I discovered that if I used my Xuron sharp tip wire cutters to put two opposed cuts in the rim of the outer cap I could snap it in half with my fingers, releasing the inner cap.

There are other designs for safety caps. Some have cap ratchets that snap into projections on the bottle. Releasing them requires squeezing or otherwise distorting the cap. Again, wire cutters used to amputate the bottle projections work well.
