Over a year and a half later, I've finally laid hands on not one but two Unimats, an SL & a DB, both alloy framed. I've made some stuff for them on the larger machines I had available at school. One T-slotted milling table and one drilled and awaiting tapping. One ER25 collet chuck, and some other bits and pieces. Prices for the accessories are indeed high, but the little machines can do small work, and they're easy to carry around. Try that with a 1067lb. South Bend Heavy 10L!Shop still isn't quite together, but it's close enough I can almost taste it! The more tools you have, the more options you have. If you're going to get rid of tools, make sure you replace them with tools that enhance your capabilities. I traded my 7x mini-lathe for the Unimats. I lost a little bit of capability, but gained much more. And I still have the Heavy 10L...
