    Vertical bandsaw modification add on

After struggling to saw small stuff on my bandsaw in the vertical position, and not wanting to take the time to attach the larger table that came with it, I came up with a much faster, easier way. If any of you haven't yet discovered the functionality of small magnets from computer hard drives... it's about time. I use them all over the place, and here is one of my latest applications. I cut a small piece of 1/16" thick plate, sawed an appropriate slit with the saw, and stuck on two magnets. Now, it is very quick to snap the plate in place, and saw small parts, easily.

These magnets are great when positioning a straight edge to use as a guide for my plasma cutter torch, too. If you have several of these magnets available, you can use them to hold small parts together, so you can visualize how they go together before welding.

That's a useful gadget - I'll likely make one for myself.

I recognize those magnets because I always buy old hard drives for next to nothing at garage sales just to harvest the magnets from them.
If you can't make it precise make it adjustable.
