I saw them testing this car at Marine Stadium in Long Beach, CA for this video clip. Very creative video editing because I never saw it get anywhere near these speeds.

The narrator would have you believe this is some new technology. When actually it is not during WWII the marines had a tracked personnel carrier called the LVT or landing vehicle tracked. The LVW which was the same as the DUKW the Army had These wheeled vehicles were based on the 2 1/2 6-wheel drive cargo truck chassis.
When I was TDY at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in 73, we were testing among other things a 5-ton amphibious cargo truck in the Chesapeake Bay. What a nightmare those things were Everything was pressurized the transmission transfer case the diffs even the cab doors they would float as long as you had exactly the right amount of cargo or if less than 3 tons it had to be loaded as far to the back of the cargo bed as possible, or it would nose down. more than 4tons it had to be distributed evenly throughout with only 12 inches of freeboard when fully loaded the smallest waves would spill over the sides It was based on the M813 cargo trucks. I don't know which version if any finally made it through testing I doubt if the one, we drove did since we sank it about every day in 8 ft of water then had to drive it out as if it were a simple cargo truck with a fording kit installed.

Just like everything else sold to the US military the price is inflated 5 times. In 1972 I bought a new Dodge pickup for around $2000.00. In 1976 The Unit I WAS in over in Germany received 6 Dodge D200 pickups. The only differences in those and mine were mine was white 2wheel drive called a 3/4 ton and 4 model years older than ones the Army got which were called M880s classed as 1 1/4 ton with so called 4-wheel drive and painted OD green, the paperwork on them showed the Army had paid $14,000.00 each. When I got out in 77, I bought a new D200 Dodge just before the 78 model came out for $6500,00, It was equipped Simmerly to the Army's 76 models except it had the 360 cubic inch engine instead of the 318s in the M880s in 1989 I bought a Dodge with the diesel for $11,000.00

Kind of shady to keep cutting to a different shot just as the thing is entering or leaving the water. The only one that is even close to what the descriptions indicated is the last one, and that one shows an H1 in water shallow enough for it to drive in anyway so not sure we're seeing the same truck in each shot. I live about 3 miles from the Hummer / GM plant in Mishawaka, IN and have never seen anything like the one in the video. Still skeptical...
