The point, as in most cases, is to make money for the supplier.

In space bubbles don't float, and astronauts that drink too many can feel bloated and uncomfortable. Solving that would be a cool use case for straws that use suction and centrifugal force, i.e. a whirlpool, to separate gasses and liquids.
