As a mechanical systems designer often had debates about "pumping" steam.

My questions were on sizing vacuum pipe. When you've got a long run, how do you pick the right sized pipe?

On a similar note, a company I worked for was building an extension to a plant in Asia. The inspectors wanted very large bribes (more than normal) to approve any air storage tanks. So, no tanks, the building was piped with large diameter standard pipe (approved by default)...many gallons worth of air storage.
