To refresh your memory I guess you removed a couple of teeth on the rack so that when you rotated the handle all the way in a clockwise direction the pinion spun freely where the teeth have been removed so the handle was at the topmost position to maximize the downwards stroke of the rack. Hard to explain in a meaningful way but an extremely useful mod to make to a rack and pinion arbour press.
