Sorry Marv, but that misconception calls for some correction:
"In accordance with Alfred Nobel's will, the recipient is selected by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, a five-member committee appointed by the Parliament of Norway."

Long story short: Sweden & Norway were in fact a union (up 'til Oct 26th 1905) -
hence Mr Nobel thought it a good idea for the Norwegians to issue the Peace Prize from 1901 onwards
(instead of the, then and formerly, militaristic Sweden).

Jimmy Carter and
Al Gore (w IPCC) to name a few fairly recent controversies...

-But all of us cock-sure Swedes still have quite a few other options for showing off our world-renowned liberality...
