    Bench grinder wheel dresser

Bought my first dressing tool. Both wheels on bench grinder had deep grooves in them. The dressing disc wore down to round washers in first use but still working. I decided to make my own disc from 1/4" steel plate, slugs produced from iron worker. Used 1 1/4" punch , drilled 1/4" hole through concave side made by punching plate. Grind down the convex side of washer making it possible for to install 2 washers in dressing tool. Works better and longer than original tool.

Bench grinder wheel dresser-20160212_130529.jpgI used a handle from tool made for dressing bench grinding wheels that I purchased from amazon. The little disc are very thin and wear quickly. So I made my own disc and when they wear out just make some more.

    stainless steel's Tools
Ken, my name is Paul, I recently finished a ring and square tubing roller. I have completed 5 jobs already using this tool, the heaviest material was 1"x 3"x 11ga steel tubing, rolling on the 1" side. I added a chuck from old pipe threader to the output shaft of gear box to twist 1/2"x 1/2" x 20' sq bar cold bend 24 revolutions to use as spindles and pickets. I used 1/2 hp motor @ 1725 rpm and 30:1 gear box reduction. Pictures and video will follow when I have a change to send them.

    Hey Paul,

That sounds like a nice, beefy roller. We'll look forward to the photos and video.

I needed a tubing roller and picket twisting tool. I found a 30:1 gear box reduction, i used 1/2 hp motor @1725 rpm. Other material used was 3/8" plate, 1 1/4" flush mount bearings, size 50 chain and sprockets. I used old chuck from old pipe threader to twist 1/2" x 20' sections of square bar into pickets. I tried attaching 58 sec video of roller working, but said file was too large. I will send more pics later on.Bench grinder wheel dresser-tubing-roller-pic.jpg
