The American rail uses the knuckle coupling system instead of the hook and bail. There was a railroad worker in the town near where I was growing up who got coupled in the knuckles as he passed between 2 separated cars when the freight train suddenly lurched. pretty much completely crushed the entire right side of his body just above his waist. He lived but just barely
Never try to tell me it can't be done

I was just about to wax that it would take a lot of guts to stand there when you post that we can survive with half of them.

We might be able to survive but personally I'd rather not have to find out. His oldest son was a couple grades ahead of me, being a small town with an even smaller school everyone pretty much knew everyone else for months afterwards Steve would update us on his dad's condition. On the day of the coupling accident the Rail road and emergency people wouldn't uncouple him until his family could be brought to him so they could give him their good Bys figuring there was no chance for survival. I imagine most don't

Wow, is that standard accepted procedure? Looks like he has done that before. He did not seem shocked when he had to move along with the cars...

I think it was the jerk pushing the car at a much higher speed than necessary!
