    Works, but if you can reach in there with a piece of all thread, you can probably reach in there with a pair of long needle nose pliers holding the nut as well. If it is too deep, then you would not have enough swing on the wrench to tighten it.

    Or a latex glove, and a drop of super glue on the finger tip to hold the nut on, or the same on a tongue depressor, popsicle stick, screwdriver blade, or the sides of the open end wrench. Lots of ways to get this done.

    Or - my solution that I have used many times is to put a piece of tape on the wrench down side, put the nut in the wrench and then screw the allthread into the nut and wrench away. I have used this on horizontal threads that were recessed pretty far as well, even crimped a thin wall tube to extend the wrench so I could reach further back...
