You can tell by the way he hefted that block of stone that it wasn't real light. So much can go wrong here. First he has complete disregard for the spinning blade inches from his shoulder while standing up. His hands could have slipped causing him to drop the stone the action of a sudden loss of expected weight would have let him body involuntarily straighten up. or he could have made a miss step and lurched sideways.
Another possibility is the camera angle may be such that we think he is closer to the blade than he really is.

From the title, I was expecting a large bandsaw as that’s what they use to cut the BIG slices off the large slabs quarried, at least they did in the mill I saw in China.

I don't think he was directly under the blade by the way that he straightened up without any ducking or swinging of his body, I believe that the angle of the viewer to the action causes a perception of that worker being much closer than what he actually was to the blade .......

You need to give the man a little credit that he’s not a moron and knows exactly what he is doing. Just because this is not a USA shop where everything has a safety label and a guard on it does not mean Workers cannot be and work safely. The guys probably been working there for decades and has produced more product than he can even imagine. I say good for him keep up the good work.

Oh I'll give him all the credit due. I know the conditions workers have to endure in other countries. My passport was often times well over a half inch thick by the time it came to renew it from having so many supplemental pages inserted in them.
I've also seen more than my share of workers maimed and killed in unsafe working conditions, and it never gets any easier witnessing this.
