Megaesophagus dog feeding chair. I've seen these before, but I like this design, that mimics the look of a dog sitting in this position.

This makes perfect sense. Especially once [or twice] losing your best friend to Gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV), or gastric torsion. I've been using an elevated bowl since then with success.
This is even better.

I'm wondering why anyone would even think to make such a stupid bowl in the first place. My dogs eat out of half of an 8" pipe 24" long capped on the ends. I fill it once every few days when ever it gets close to empty.

Some dogs, and cats, will eat so fast that they make themselves vomit. A slow feeding bowl is supposed to help prevent that.

Never thought about the nervous breeds and the human created gulpers. It is my contention that many animals learn their behavior traits both good or bad as a direct result of how they are cared for and the environment in which they must exist. Many of these traits are also the indoctrinations of their human's influences strictly for the convenience of their human.

Yes thats exactly why they are made that way, our dogs are all rescue and some breeders will throw food into a pen and leave them to compete for what they can grab. Unfortunately they rarely break the bolting habit, we dont use a bowl like that but do it the hard way and feed them bit by bit to slow them down.
