I was helping build a *Stick Home* where there was no electricity... {*2×6 walls, 2×8 rafters*}

From the SECOND FLOOR, my Neighbor Cussed out his Poullon [sp?] Chain Saw, and Finally threw it HARD, off the house, into the woods. [Major ANGER MANAGEMENT Canadate].
and . . .
At Lunch, I went to find said saw, & put it in my PU Truck.

"Whattcha DOING?"

"DID you throw it Away ? ? ?"

"#@$%& SAW don't #@$%& work"

"SO I CAN HAVE IT?"

"#@$%& YOU"

At the END of the work day, I went home into my **PlyWood SHANTY**,

Under the light of a 12 inch RV Flourescent Light, I disassembled it, Down to Splitting the Cases.

I must of cleaned out a Half Pound of saw dust, REALLY ! ! !

RE-ASSEMBLED, new fuel, One Pull, and that saw replaced my Homelite 150, Twice as heavy, and no Chain Break device.

He lived a HALF MILE away from me, and he HEARD that saw!!!

And true to form, the next day, WANTED IT BACK, I did tell him that I would use my New Saw to help build HIS HOUSE.

"#@$%& you, . . . OK, its a deal".

I am NOT implying your saw wasn't clean . . . I just have spent to many hours with Four Different Brands of chain saws... and that one only needed **LOVING ATTENTION**.

(My work in "the WOODS" was Never "as a logger", From my first Winter in Western Washington, I Chose to heat my home with Wood" and am entirely self taught.

FIRST Lesson CLEAN my Saws Filter, Every Night. THAT was before we bought 20 acres in Eastern Washington, FIVE SEASONS of cutting Hemlocks for WOOD STOVES.

For TWO FAMILIES*.

I had no PU TRUCK, So, One Load to PU Owner, One Load to OWNER of Trees, & One for Me. The PU Truck owner *Bailed after His Two Loads, And so I used my VW BUS for hauling wood!

. . . end of pre mountain Living)

Two Seasons later, a new neighbor was Cranking & CRANKING on his chain saw, while I was outside in the Snow, chopping Wood, for our FAMILY'S new Log House, 12×16 Down Stairs, Cantalevered Both West & North Second Floor room was 16×14, but built Post & Beam, with a South Facing Clear Story shining into the Up Stairs . . . A 90 DAY WONDER, finished on October 31, 1980, we had to Move OUT in November, due to Not having TIME to insulate the upper portion!

That was 40,Miles SOUTH of the 48th Parellel, AKA, the Canadian Border.

Said neighbor Bought UNSEEN, 20 Acres, With Single Story "LOG" [What we called log houses].

HE came from San Deigo, CA.

A Medical Doctor.

I heard his Snow Mobile start up.... [part of the property purchase] he drove into my work area, and ASKED if he could BUY some of the split logs . . . "NOPE, that is my WIFE'S house heat . . . . This is my Chain Saw, you can Borrow IT",

He said "Hop ON", my first Snow Mobile ride. I let him run The SAME exact chainsaw he had bought Brand New, but rebranded "Crafsman".

I TUNED his saw for our Elevation, 4150' ... And started Cutting HIS wood, with His Saw, to break it in... it was tuned at Ocean Level!!!

And that my friends was the Start of a very long friendship, the MOUNTAIN WAY.

. . . . . . . to Say **COLD** would be fair, it never got BELOW Zero° F . . .
