The idea of fabricating a heavy linear guide opens all kinds of projects......... I suppose sliding doors found on barns are world wide, common hardware here isn't adequate for a serious door panel. Security, insulation, weather seal, ease of moving several hundred pounds estimated weight.

This could solve a wall opening I cannot use, based on hardware used then, 1897, hardly different than available today.
