How to make a countersunk dead center for a metal lathe

when I used to turn a commutator, I used to wrap the end of the commutator with emery and the non emery side towards the diameter of the commutator, and the side of the emery clamped on a drill chuck , just touching enough to get a bit of support, put a bit of oil , and there you go .
