Hydraulic Jack Stands.

Having hit my head several times while shooting around on the creeper i decided to make some elevating jack stands to give me extra clearance without compromising stability of the car. This is what i came up with using angle iron and some 1 tonne bottle jacke.

Haven't seen this before but it's a novel idea. I can't count the number of times I've had to readjust jackstands - and pumping the jack - to get more working clearance. With a rig like this, considerable time and frustration can be avoided.

Just a point of safety, the stands should be nearer the springs. Plus axle tubes will bend with stands positioned like that.

I like the hydraulic jack idea. for gaining extra clearance when needed once elevated always use the lynch pins to rest the load on never rely on the hydraulics of a jack.
While I prefer to position jack stands as far apart as possible for stability concerns,there are times when positioning them closer together is necessary.

I second the lynch pin use. I`ve repaired enough failed hydraulic jacks and systems to know never to trust seals alone.
