    Introduction

Hello, just joined always looking for ideas. Just wondering if I could get the specs on the home built roofing shingle lift from iowawrench.

    Hi larrywd14 - welcome to HomemadeTools.net

I think I know the build you're talking about:

There's also another style for solo workers, where a man's weight riding down on the elevator is used to move the shingles up.

Anyway, I'm going to drop iowawrench a quick note on YouTube to see if he wants to drop in with an opinion.

    Hi larrywd14,

    Welcome!

Both of those shingle lifts look as though they'd do the job. Which one do you like better?

I was persuaded to join to help others out looking for more details on the shingle lift in the youtube video above that I designed and built. A disclaimer: I'm sure you guys would all do it the same way, but I used what I had sitting around as much as possible rather than going out and buying all new. So the drawings I have would need to be tweaked (and maybe improved) to either what you have sitting around, or something similar you can buy. If interested, I could try to revise the design to include a complete BOM using all new parts including pulleys and such from McMaster-Carr or something. Anyways, here are a few snapshots of some of the drawings. If interested, I could post a link to a complete .pdf set of drawings. I thought I had better at least introduce myself though so you all would trust my link to download them. Thanks for letting me be part of this forum.

Hello iowawrench, been busy with my grandchildren school play. I really like your shingle lifter-it's what I need to replace my shingles on my house. I would love to have it in pdf but I will not bother you for it because I only have 18 squares that I can carry up a ladder with my sons help. This is the only thing I have going right now. Will be replacing windows and vinyl siding later.

    Thanks for your reply.

This is just excellent. We need to hoist shingles ashore from a landing craft, cart them up the hill, then up 40+ ft. to the Lightkeepers' Quarters roof on an island. We should be able to use this rig both at low tide to the boathouse deck, then on the roof itself. Has anyone as yet added a motor to this rig?
