    Any plumber worth his putty would have called it a "miracle!" and added 20% to the bill.

    I'm guessing someone has had a much bigger problem lurking behind that tile, and probably has had it for quite a while. The tile probably just got fed up and said "Hey dude, look here..."

    Hopefully there's a plumbing access panel on the other side of that wall opposite of the tile and the plumbing issue can be fixed and the tile sealed from behind without destroying the tile itself.
