I've never observed group migratory behaviors in this species; they are generally a solitary lot. I wonder if this is part of their breeding behavior?

Do you call it a herd a gaggle a pride or a congress? My vote would be a congress

These appear to be capable of productive non-pontificating work. That might rule out "congress".

The reason I mentioned congress because like monkeys these machines generally swing to and fro with abandon to anything near them and like the human counter parts they always have their own way or wanting to get things done rarely ever in agreement with anyone else for very long at a time
But they might be a school a drove a clutch a muster a crowd a troop too many to be a platoon, maybe a horde or a gang.
Surely there is a proper name for such an assemblage of wild beasts like those

I'm thinking this is some type of community project, maybe couldn't get commercial monetary support.

And next GIF... WTF's about excavator traffic jam? All kinds joke fodder there. "Don't just commute; support the regime and build a road/ strip mine/ freeway interchange on the way to work! or "Christo and Jeanne-Claude's latest kinetic art project"
It would be hard to keep out of the swing area with all that dancing goings on. Very funny Toolmaker51, oops I thought you were refering to all those 20 ton+ eskies. Some community project must be daming the yangtze kiang

Migratory excavators! Now that's a funny notion Ms. Greene. Could they also be prey; escaping a fearsome Minneapolis-Moline or ravenous D10?

I think they look more like a pack of hungry rock wolves Or maybe they are hunters and this is opening day of dirt season.
