Metal Workshop Tools & SolidWorks CAD Software

Previously worked as a Welder & Diver in Alaska and now live in Las Vegas.
Currently enjoy making custom tools for my Metal Workshop ... Some of the tools are simple ... and others more complicated...

I use SolidWorks software to create CAD designs & photo-realistic renderings and then turn those items into working tools. (See Attached Photo for an example of a Photo-Realistic CAD rendering used to view design prior to fabrication) --

Also enjoy helping others (Just for the Fun of it) by drawing their concepts into
and creating CAD renderings and PDF drawings of how to build projects to share with others.

Consider myself a Welder & Metal Fabricator 1st and a Computer Designer 2nd ... Therefore, whatever I design in the computer is designed with metal fabrication in mind.

Probably get more excited about the simple workshop solutions and will try and share some of my own 'Simple/Stupid' solutions... and look forward to viewing solutions by others.

    Hi MetalDesigner,

    Welcome!

Sounds as though you've had an interesting career. I seriously considered commercial diving, myself, at one point, but decided against pursuing it. If you haven't already done so, check out our Metalworking category; you might find it of interest...

When you're ready to share some of your homemade tools/solutions, we'd love to see them. Please post them directly in the Homemade Tools subforum. We'll add each one to the database, as well as to your builder page on the site.

Non-tool items should be shared in the Not a Tool, but Homemade subforum.

    Ken

I'd probably look for sunny climes too if I spent my working life diving in Alaska! Interesting blog you've got there.
