Broken springs on the drivers side to. No sense of responsibility. How can you send out, or drive such a death trap?

    I blaim the driver.
One should check your vehicle and load before leaving the yard.
Report any death traps to your supervisor.
Ha Ha Ha, obviously doesn'y apply here though.
I have a 1972 Land Rover Series III Truck Cab/Pick-Up and a 1962 Land Rover Series 2a Carawagon Camper.

That "report to your supervisor" does not work in most places. You can bet the driver did not own that truck. He was trying to make money to feed his family. He was told to drive the truck. If he did not drive it, the next guy in line would take the job, and the first guy would not be asked back.

2nd that Hemmjo. I have worked for companies that had a 'My way or the highway' attitude when it came to safety and the only thing to do regardless is walk and then go all out to ruin their business.
One large multi-national firm was really bad with the maintenance when I started and one night a workmate and I immobilized a few trucks, as in off the ground, no wheels, brakes removed, parts hidden and left a note listing all the parts needed which were expected to be on site when we turned up for work.
The 'phone calls to the transport agency and a couple of politicians were our protection for when we got fired so we could sue.

Strangest thing ever was not only were the parts there but senior management wanted an explanation as they had much explaining to do to various 'authorities'.
Shite job but I stayed another couple of years because there was never another "don't care just do it" and parts were supplied as needed.

I'll add that the lost day cost the company big time but the downtime and insurance payments for 'accidents' were drastically reduced when proper maintenance kicked in. Even got the place computerized!

So true. It is the sad world we live in, where the folk struggle to feed their family and will do any job for a pitance.

Exactly, YouTube is loaded with videos of shops in third world countries repairing cracked frames, broken springs, busted wheels and axles. These trucks are all to often pushed beyond their design limits to make a profit. "If you dont do it I will find someone who will".

The reality is that most things can be fixed. And fixed well. Just do it!
