The liquid metal is poured into the path of high-pressure water, which atomized the metal. It's then dried into cakes, which are crushed into powder. The last part I understand completely. It's the water atomization that I cannot comprehend. Mind, blown.
As one with OCD and tactile dysfunctions (I am compelled to experience textures and shapes), my absolute favorite since I was a kid has been ball-burnished powdered steel. It's right up there with kitten belly fur.
