I'm glad my pressure cooker / canner has a lock that makes it quite impossible to open the lid, built into the pressure release valve is some kind of secondary latch that will not under any circumstances release with the slightest amount of pressure inside.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Most pressure cookers have a locking mechanism you can bypass, if you work at it hard enough. I have both older and modern ones, and a determined person could probably open any of them while under at least some pressure. Never underestimate the power of human stupidity and determination.

For topical application, only. Not to be taken internally or used in com-
bination with other drugs or alcohol, except as directed by your shaman.
Do not operate heavy equipment, unless you actually know how to.

Neither of these are explosions - they are idiots opening them before the pressure returned to normal atmo. The first one had to really work at it.

My pressure cooker is the original design with an internal lid which is impossible to remove un till zero pressure, do not know why this design was never changed.

People are opening these pressure cookers without releasing the pressure? Or the release is blocked because they overfill the pot? There have been safety locks and safety valves for nearly 50 years. But if you don't use them, well this happens. That can be some terrible burns. Especially the second lady and the first older man.

That second one had to hurt with all that scalding water on the woman's legs not to mention a chin side landing.

Now comes the time for an incriminating admission, I have actually had a pressure cooker explode, but it did not release it's lid. The explosion occurred within the pot because it had chicken bones, fat, etc which I was boiling down for stock. It was on the BBQ outside, and I forgot about it, it got so hot that the fat turned into vapour. I can only presume that some oxygen must have still been inside because it did an internal burp and destroyed the lid and seriously bent the lugs it locks down on. When I remembered it, it was still happily cooking away, totally black and bent to the dunny, AND OUTSIDE.
