If you don't have ladders you do it other ways...

Yikes!! ...I guess that's what the Kiwis call 'Kiwi ingenuity'...the cost of the jacks would be big, and the need for NO wind, a definite, but the potential for catastrophic failure is too high for my liking. Even a weight imbalance could send the thing spiraling...hence why a crane is the way to go...or as IntheGroove said, maybe a ladder or two is in order..Cheers

When the workshop was built here, we used 2 cranes to hoist the roof up.

The columns swung on a bolt each as a pivot. A "hive" of activity to secure the columns to the plates concreted in and where now connected to the roof.
Lots of heavy rope on hand to tie on diagonals to secure whilst top hats and cladding were added to walls.

Looks like it might get around the considerable cost of scaffolding required to meet Health & Safety laws when building a roof the normal way.
Wind problem could be even worse when using a crane.
Crane hire complete with driver and 2 riggers, unsuitable wind delays etc, is probably a lot more expensive than hiring these four d.i.y. jacks.
